Sierra Leoneans will go to the polls on 24th June 2023 to cast their votes in the presidential, parliamentary and local councils’ elections. President Maada Bio, flagbearer of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) will face stiff competition from Samura Kamara of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) and 11 other presidential candidates. Members of Parliament will also be elected by proportional representation, after a presidential decree by President Bio in October 2022 abolished the first-past-the-post system that had been used since 2008.
