Image Peter Komba, a fast-rising digital creator and actor, has been announced as a TED Talk speaker at the 2025 Sierra Leone Innovates Digital Government Summit. The event is schedule to take place from June 3 to June 6, 2025, at the Freetown International Conference Centre. Hosted by the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation under the Office of the Vice President, the summit brings together voices shaping the future of tech and digital life in Sierra Leone. Mpox Update: 111 New Cases Confirmed as Total Hits 2,865

Image The Government of Sierra Leone has reported 111 new confirmed cases of Mpox in its latest health update, bringing the cumulative total to 2,865 cases since the outbreak began. The report, released on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 also noted no new recovery, signaling the severity of Mpox in the country. The report further confirmed a total of 14 deaths, and 1,904 active cases since the phase of the outbreak disease. While the update did not specify district-level breakdowns for the new cases, previous reports highlighted the Western Rural and Western Urban areas as the most affected areas. Image On Saturday, the 17th of May 2025, the Classroom to Commerce project engaged 300 graduates from Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions (TVET) in job readiness training in Bo, equipping them with the tools needed to navigate the workforce with confidence and competence. The training focused on several key areas, including CV writing, interview preparation, and professional networking, which equipped participants with essential job-seeking sk ills. Additionally, modules on communication, teamwork, and problem-solving prepared graduates to thrive in diverse work environments. Practical lessons on business planning and financial management aimed at inspiring self-employment and innovation were also included. Held at the Freetown City Council building the groundbreaking event brought together pupils from 30 secondary schools across the capital to explore academic possibilities beyond their borders. The fair featured over 15 informational booths where pupils engaged directly with alumni of American colleges and universities asking questions about application processes, scholarship options, campus life and the broader U.S. education system.
